College of Integrative Studies (CIS) 

The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) serves as a centre and incubator for interdisciplinary and integrative teaching and research through its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered by a world-class faculty and is the first School in Singapore to offer an Individualised Major to nurture graduates of the future.
As the first of its kind in Singapore, the College of Integrative Studies’ Individualised Major will allow students to respond nimbly to industry and societal needs, by individualising their majors to engage with the needs of the future. For further information, please refer to our website.

CIS also welcomes you to experience a selection of specially curated courses and activities, including a credit-bearing internship, global exposure, and community service through SMU's Core Curriculum. Through our Core Curriculum, you will be exposed to a wide range of disciplines and perspectives, enabling you to become competent, adaptable, and responsible learners.

Core Curriculum


The Core Curriculum provides a holistic education that complements a broad range of interests and learning paths to develop the competencies and values you will need for the 21st century. Its distinctive hallmark lies in its multi-disciplinary and multi-modal approach to learning, whereby you can expect exposure to the world’s thought leaders, an interactive learning experience, faculty-student discussions and peer-to-peer exchange of ideas. You will also learn experientially as you solve real-world problems with mentorship from faculty and industry experts.
